BetMGM Sportsbook Review

Based in Nevada, MGM Resorts is a hospitality and entertainment company with a wealth of resorts in various locations. With an online casino and having already expanded into sportsbooks in Nevada, MGM partnered with Boyd Gaming and struck a deal with GVC Holdings to power its online gambling and sports betting platforms. In New Jersey, BetMGM launched an app powered by Borgata and became the second sportsbook to enter the state, following the arrival of DraftKings three weeks prior.

Strengths and Other Features

  • Accessibility and Mobile Capabilities

BetMGM is now available on Android and iOS, after initially only rolling out on Android devices. There is still however no browser portal available for users to bet on. Having both mobile platforms is a significant improvement from their early release, although the drawback of not having a desktop platform still remains.

In terms of usability, the BetMGM app does work well, with a relatively intuitive design that allows users to find the sports they need to find. The interface may not be the most aesthetic out there but it does the job and a well-run app is what you’d expect from a company of MGMs stature, as well as one backed by Borgata, GVC Holdings and Boyd and IGT.

With such a powerful backing you’d also expect that in due time BetMGM will release a desktop platform, as it really is behind the rest of the pack in New Jersey without one. It’s still early days and the positive would be there’s plenty of scope to improve for MGM.

  • Deposit and Withdrawal Options

BetMGM does provide users with a good amount of deposit and withdrawal options, with seven different deposit options. PayPal would be a nice addition, as would check, but ultimately there is still a good quantity of options to satisfy users needs.

  • Sports Offered

The range of sports offered is reasonable, but lacks some sports other sportsbooks in New Jersey provide such as cricket and cycling. Given betting is restricted to residents of NJ though it should be enough to satisfy the majority of those betting.

  • Support

BetMGM offers 24/7 live chat, as well as an email and phone support system. The contact us page provides a FAQ as well as a form for customers to fill out their queries online. This meets the top standard for sportsbook in New Jerseys, with the best featuring a good live chat platform.

  • The Verdict

Clearly there are limitations to BetMGM, the lack of bonuses and lack of a desktop platform for now are amongst the clear factors going against the sportsbook’s success. However, given the stature of the company, and the huge deals they have struck with Boyd Gaming and GVC Holdings, users should hold optimism that BetMGM could become a successful and well-functioning online sportsbook.
